One of the main purposes of our project is to make our students reflect about the situation of human rights all over the world. Taking as a start point of reflexion the study of some social minorities in the age of Cosimo III (expelled moriscos, Sephardi Jews, newly converted people investigated by the Inquisition, emigrants to the colonies, black slaves), our students should be able to focus their attention toward some similar situations taking place in the contemporary world.

In this way, today we have been fortunate to have with us a young Egyptian journalist and graphic reporter: Ahmed Ali. He had been compelled to leave his country after being accused and condemned for “belonging to a forbidden movement” (6th of April). Our students have been enthralled by the testimony of this brave young man who currently lives in Spain thanks to the “Program for Temporary Protection of Defenders in Threaten” managed by Amnesty International. They have literally assailed him with questions and expressed their most enthusiastic support and sympathy. The assistance of María Jesús Monedero, renowned member of Amnesty in Córdoba, has been most helpful in the management of the meeting. We are much grateful to both and wish the best of lucks to Ahmed.
